Dr. W. Thomas Norwood was born and raised in Stanly county. He lived in Norwood and was a member of the Boy Scouts of America where he attained the honors of Eagle and God and Country Awards. He attended South Stanly High School where he was a member of the Honor Society and played varsity football, basketball, and golf. He knew early on that he wanted to be a dentist and that he would return to Norwood one day. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for his undergraduate bachelors degrees in Chemistry and Biology. During his time at UNC he was a member of the AED Premed/ Predental honor society. He graduated in 1971 and was accepted into Chapel Hill's School of Dentistry. He graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1975. |

He has been involved in many aspects of organized dentistry as well. He is currently a member in the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, a member and past President of the Stanly County Dental Society. He is a member of the Third District Dental Society where he was a representative and the North Carolina Dental Society where he was a Chairman of the Committe on Dental Society Services. Dr. Norwood has been married to Holly D. Norwood since 1975, and they
have one child, Anna H. Norwood of Huntersville. |
